Proteas star Corbin Bosch handed one demerit point for send-off gesture

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has found himself in hot water for his innocuous gesture during the second T20I against Australia in Darwin on Tuesday.

During the 17th over of Australia's chase, Bosch executed a well-directed slower ball at Ben Dwarshuis. The batter was well through the shot by the time the ball arrived, which clattered into the stumps.  Pleased with his skill, Bosch pointed the way to the players' dugout. In doing so, Bosch was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which states that "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match".

Bosch admitted to the offence - his first on the international stage - and accepted the sanction.

He ended the match with 3/20, helping South Africa to a 53-run win to level the three-match series. Earlier, Dewald Brevis struck a record-breaking 125 off just 56 balls to get the visitors to a hefty total of 218/7.
