Proteas batter Donovan Ferreira signs T20 deal with English county side Yorkshire

English county side Yorkshire have signed Proteas wicketkeeper-batter Donovan Ferreira for this year's domestic T20 Blast competition.

Ferreira has made two appearances for the Proteas in the 20-over format and recently hit an 18-ball half-century in the SA20 as part of the Joburg Super Kings side.

The 25-year-old will be available from the start of the competition, with Yorkshire Vikings kicking off their T20 campaign against Worcestershire Rapids on May 30.

Darren Gough, Yorkshire's managing director of cricket, said: "He is an exciting addition to the team, and his all-round abilities and consistent performances in various international franchise leagues are indicators that he has a significant career ahead in cricket.

"We hope he will play a big part in Yorkshire's T20 campaign, and we are looking forward to welcoming him to Headingley."

The White Rose, meanwhile, will "actively encourage" members from under-represented groups as they seek to appoint two new member-nominated directors.

The board met on Monday for the first time since Colin Graves' controversial return as chair and signposted its hopes to attract a more inclusive representation from the fanbase.

"The club is committed to building a diverse workforce and this starts with the board," a statement on the club’s website read.

"Applications from women, people with disabilities and people from ethic minority groups are encouraged in particular."
