Proteas: A closer look at the five uncapped players in the Test squad to tour Zimbabwe

Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs have all been rested for the series, with coach Shukri Conrad testing the depth in South Africa's domestic system.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene in this year's SA20, hitting 347 runs in the tournament for the Paarl Royals at a strike-rate of more than 166.

The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter then showed he has the temperament for the longer formats after recording three hundreds in five first-class matches for the Titans in the CSA 4-Day series for the Titans.

Dewald Brevis

The 22-year-old was touted as a future superstar when he topped the run-scoring charts with a record-breaking 506 runs in six innings at an average of 84.33 at the U19 World Cup in 2022.

Brevis has transferred that form into the longer formats after being second in the run charts in last season's domestic 4-Day competition with 573 runs in 12 innings at an average of more than 47.

Lesego Senokwane

Senokwane has been rewarded after amassing 559 runs, including two centuries, in the domestic 4-Day competition playing for the Knights.

The 28-year-old overall has seven hundreds and eight fifties in 50 First-Class matches and was recently selected for the SA A team that toured West Indies.

Prenelan Subrayen

The 31-year-old Dolphins off-spinner is almost certain of making his Test debut in Zimbabwe having toiled for many years on the domestic circuit.

Subrayen has taken 242 wickets in 77 First-Class matches and he has also been in good form lately having delivered a five-wicket haul in SA A's victory against West Indies in St Lucia.

Codi Yusuf

The 27-year-old Lions seamer bowls with good pace and took 23 wickets in six domestic 4-Day matches in the last home summer.

The paceman recently had a stint with Durham in English county cricket and largely impressed, taking 16 wickets in four games.
