The franchise has lost a semi-final, an eliminator, and a qualifier in the previous campaigns, therefore missing out in the final match all three times.
Miller says the team has been training very well, and hopes to get a good start to give their trophy ambitions a boost.
"The guys have trained really hard and I think with every team, everyone wants to win the trophy at the end of day. That is definitely in our sights, we want to take it one game and get off to a good start," said Miller.
Although winning games is important to any team, Miller also wants his side to have fun off the field. He says he will also be trying to connect with each one of his teammates individually to find out what makes them tick.
"As everyone mentioned, it is a great competition. South Africa has a lot to offer. So it is about enjoying ourselves. But as a captain I just want to really connect on an individual basis, find out how the guys tick and what works for them," added Miller.
The 36-year-old has struggled with injury in the last year or so, and only recently also returned to the national team. He says this has perhaps been a blessing in disguise for him to know how to take care of his body.
Miller noted that it’s going to be a busy six months coming up, and also hopes to make it into the squad for the T20 World Cup in February and March.
"Right now as I speak my body is feeling really good. Ready to go and experience the whole series. There's a lot of cricket coming up, the SA20 then IPL. Now we just need to take it game by game," he expressed.
