Kieron Pollard to captain MI Cape Town in SA20

Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard will lead MI Cape Town's charge at the upcoming SA20.

The news comes after former captain Rashid Khan was confirmed to be missing the tournament altogether. The Afghanistan leg-spinner is still recovering from surgery to rectify a back issue.

"Kieron Pollard will be captain for MI Cape Town in SA20," confirmed the franchise in a statement on Instagram.

"Rashid Khan is unavailable currently, as he continues his recovery from injury. MI CT wish Rashid a quick recovery and look to have him back on the playing field soon."

In addition, MI Cape Town confirmed a new addition to the family, Nuwan Thushara.

"The Sri Lankan fast bowler will join MI Cape Town ahead of SA20 2024," continued their statement.

"Nuwan is part of the #OneFamily, picked by Mumbai Indians in the auctions ahead of the IPL 2024. He will replace Jofra Archer in the squad."

The 2024 SA20 kicks off on Wednesday when defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape host the Joburg Super Kings in Gqeberha.
