Ishan Kishan smashes maiden century as India beat New Zealand in final T20I

Ishan Kishan smashed a maiden T20I century to help India power to a 46-run win in the fifth and final game against New Zealand, and seal a 4-1 series victory in Thiruvananthapuram.

Batting at number three, Kishan struck 103 from just 43 balls as the home team went to a mammoth total of 271-5 in their 20 overs.

The left-handed Kishan hit 10 sixes and six fours in his knock and received good support from his captain Suryakumar Yadav (63 off 30), Hardik Pandya (42 off 17) and Abhishek Sharma (30 off 16).

New Zealand's bowlers were put to the sword in the first innings with fast bowler Lockie Ferguson returning the best figures of 2-41 his four overs.

The Black Caps made a good fist of the huge run-chase with opener Finn Allen striking 80 off 38 deliveries while Rachin Ravindra contributed 30.

Ish Sodhi stroked a lusty 33 off 15 balls towards the end of the contest as India seamer Arsheep Singh ended with 5-51 in his four overs.

Both teams will take valuable information and preparations start for the T20 World Cup that kicks off on 7 February.
