Deciding match rained out as India and West Indies share T20I series

Less than eight overs were bowled in the fifth and final T20I between India and West Indies as heavy rain fell in Bengaluru.

Persistent rain forced the series-deciding fifth T20I to be abandoned after India reached 118/5 in 7.4 overs of a contest reduced to 9 overs per side.

The rain-affected match left the high-scoring series locked at 2-2.

Rain delayed the start significantly, forcing a reduction to 9 overs a side; even with the excellent drainage at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium allowing play to resume almost as soon as the rain abated, a result was not possible.

West Indies won the toss and chose to field, with India starting aggressively and scoring at a brisk rate of over 15 runs an over despite losing regular wickets.

Ishan Kishan smashed 30 off just 10 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes, while Naman Dhir remained unbeaten on a blistering 24 off 6 balls, including 1 four and 3 sixes for a strike rate over 400.

Rain returned in the eighth over and no further play was possible so the match was called off.

West Indies captain Shai Hope was named Player of the Series for his outstanding batting throughout the tour.
