IPL: Punjab Kings hits record run-chase as Sunrisers down Rajasthan Royals

It was record-breaking day at the IPL as Punjab Kings produced the highest-ever run-chase to beat Delhi Capitals while Sunrisers Hyderabad overcame Rajasthan Royals.

Punjab Kings produced the highest ever IPL run-chase, getting to a target of 265 as they beat Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Prabhsimran Singh set the tone at the top of the order with 76 from just 26 balls while opening partner Priyansh Arya contributed 43 in a stand of 126 inside seven overs.

The Kings were not to be done even as both openers lost their wickets with Shreyas Iyer smashing an unbeaten 71 from 36 deliveries and Shashank Singh finished finished the demolition job with 19 not out.

Earlier, the Capitals would thought they were in with a big chance as KL Rahul was masterful for his 152 not out in a total of 264-2 in 20 overs.

Nitish Rana was the other major contributor in the innings with 91 off 44 balls as the Capitals breached the 260-run mark but it proved to be not enough for a victory.

Sunrisers too strong as they overcome Rajasthan Royals

Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down a target of 229 to beat the Royals by seven wickets as skipper Ishan Kishan led the way with 74 from 31 deliveries.

Abhishek Sharma kick-started he chase with a quick-fire 57 while Nitish Kumar Reddy  contributed a brisk 36 from 18 balls.

Former Proteas international Heinrich Klaasen took the Sunrisers over the line with 29 as the they won with nine balls to spare.
