Mashimbyi was speaking ahead of the team’s departure for England, which will happen in two batches today and tomorrow.
They will be attempting to finally win the tournament after making the final in the previous two editions, losing to Australia and New Zealand respectively.
Mashimbyi expressed confidence that they are part of the favourites to lift the trophy, and just have to figure out how to get over that final hurdle.
"I'm already at Lord's - I'm just looking after the process now to get there. I think that South Africa has shown over the years that we are a force to be reckoned with, and we didn't get to those finals by chance. Every team knows that South Africa aren't going to be an easy pushover.
"Reaching three finals in succession shows that you're doing something right and that you form part of the best teams in the world."
Mashimbyi says he’s got no doubt in his players’ ability to go all the way and lift the trophy, and just needs them to have the confidence in themselves to do it.
The team arrived in camp on Thursday for a team builder before a couple of training sessions in Johannesburg, to work on a few finishing touches before leaving.
South Africa will face Ireland and New Zealand in warm-up matches before taking on Australia in their first game of the World Cup on June 13.
Mashimbyi explained what they’ll be looking for in the two games before the tournament gets underway.
"I think confidence and belief is big. We just want to put ourselves through the paces and make sure that what we've done during our prep, will be replicated in those warm up games."
