Harry Brook, Aiden Markram lead Sunrisers to victory over KKR in IPL

England batter Harry Brook made the first century of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season as Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 23 runs.

Opener Brook smashed an unbeaten 100 from 55 balls as the Sunrisers reached 228 for four off their 20 overs at Eden Gardens.

The 24-year-old's innings included 12 fours and three sixes, with skipper Aiden Markram (50 from 26 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (32 from 17 balls) providing excellent support.

Captain Nitish Rana struck 75 from 41 balls to give the Knight Riders hope of victory.

Rinku Singh also made an unbeaten 58 from 31 balls but the hosts finished well short on 205 for seven.

It was a second victory in four matches for the Sunrisers after they started the tournament on a losing note with KKR having a similar record.

KKR are next in action on Sunday when they take on Mumbai Indians while Sunrisers' next game is on Tuesday.
