Peters returned bowling figures of 3/32 at Supersport Park in Centurion last night to lead his team to a 53-run win against MI Cape Town, therefore usurping Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the top of the table.
Peters did spend some time in the Proteas’ camp ahead of the Champions Trophy last year, and revealed that he plans to make a more permanent return to the team in the near future.
"Look, it was just before the Champions Trophy, so I was there for about six, seven days. I didn't play, I got injured so I don't think I've really had the full taste of it, so I'm not looking forward but I'm gonna try do the right things and hopefully some day I'm gonna find myself in that space again and I'm sure I'll be ready to take the opportunity if it comes," Peters said.
The win last night was PC’s third on the spin, with Paarl Royals and Durban Super Giants also having fallen victim to them.
Peters says they didn’t have a specific conversation about winning successive matches, but rather put emphasis on doing the basics well.
"To be honest we didn't really have specific conversations, I think we just said, let's try to do the basics a bit better. We've seen so many people in T20 cricket try to do so much and sometimes you can get bowled out quickly,” he explained.
“We said let's try to do the basics a bit better like playing good cricket shots and I think that's worked for us and we've really stayed tight as a group.
“Even though we've had bad losses we've never felt like the group was spreading apart and I think that's kind of why we've done well in the last three games."
