First T20 International between Proteas and India rained out

The game of South Africa's three-match T20 International series was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain in Durban on Sunday evening.

Kingsmead had been covered in showers all weekend and so it was no surprise when the toss was delayed on Sunday afternoon. Hours later there was little reprieve and the match began to lose overs.

With no break in the rain predicted, umpires and officials called off the match shortly before 6pm.

The teams now move onto Gqeberha for the second match on Tuesday, while the potential series decider will be played at Wanderers on Thursday.

The Proteas and India then move onto a three-match ODI series, followed by two Tests at Supersport Park in Pretoria and Newlands in Cape Town.
