Mustafizur returned figures of 5-43 in the third and deciding contest in Chattogram as Bangladesh, defending a target of 266 dimissed the visitors for 210 to win by 55 runs.
"He had an extraordinary performance today. Mustafiz is a great bowler who wins us many matches from difficult situations," Mehidy said.
"Having such a player helps the team in any tough situation. I have been seeing him for the last ten years so I feel confident when I see the ball in his hand in crisis moments."
Bangladesh has developed a potent pace attack in recent years, especially in white-ball cricket, with Nahid Rana picking up five wickets in the second ODI of the series while Shoriful Islam has been consistent.
They combined for 22 wickets in the three-match series, which is now the most by Bangladesh's fast bowlers in a bilateral ODI series.
"Our pace unit is bowling very well for a few years now," Mehidy added. "They have been consistent over a long period of time.
"They have won us many matches both at home and abroad. The pace bowlers helped us beat South Africa in their backyard (in 2022). I think if a team has a good pace unit, the momentum changes."
