CSA T20 Challenge: Dolphins, Western Province claim one-sided wins

The Dolphins defeated the Warriors by seven wickets at Kingsmead Stadium with Western Province completing an emphatic 85 run victory over the Titans on Sunday.

Dolphins bowlers dominate Warriors batsmen in convincing win

The Dolphins won the toss and decided to bowl first, pinning back the Warriors to 34/4 during the opening powerplay session.

The Warriors continued to lose wickets regularly to leave them reeling at 73/9 with four overs remaining to bat, with Patrick Kruger pulling through with a resilient 32 off 36 balls before falling to Andile Simelane to end the innings at 94 all out.

Dolphins' openers Tshepang Dithole and Khaya Zondo put the Durban based side ahead with a 65-run partnership before Dithole was out bowled by Aphiwe Mnyanda for 39 off 37 balls.

Khaya was next to fall with barely two overs later as Mnyanda struck again before dismissing JJ Smuts with the Dolphins needing only six runs for victory.

Ethan Bosch finished the innings with aplomb with a huge hit off Thomas Kaber to hand the KwaZulu-Natal outfit the victory and above the Warriors into second spot on the T20 Challenge table.

Edward Moore powers Western Province to big win over Titans

Western Province opening batsman smashed a 53-ball century to help his side to a convincing 85-run victory againt the Titans at Newland Stadium on Sunday.

The Titans won the toss and sent the hosts in to bat, much to their dismay, as the home side piled on 56 runs before opener Valentine Kitime was caught by Roelof van der Merwe off the bowling of Dayyan Galiem.

Moore continued to punish the Titans bowlers alongside Joshua van Heerden before the latter fell to Duan Jansen for an entertaining 58 off 29 balls with the score at 132/2 in the 13th over.

Oliver Whitehead was dismissed next by Tabraiz Shamzi following a good catch from Duan Jansen before Moore made his maiden T20 century.

After Edward Moore's dismissal for 105 off 53 balls Daniel Smith (28) and Josh Breed (14*) managed to put in some final big blows to get Province to a daunting total of 225/6.

The Titans response was disrupted in the fourth ball of the second innings when Steve Stolk was caught by Man of the Match Moore for a duck off the bowling of Raeeq Daniels.

Andile Phehlukwayo delivered two sixes before falling to Dane Paterson before Neil Brand became Daniels' second victim thanks to a third Moore catch to leave the Tshwane franchise struggling at 28/3.

Dayyan Galiem provided some resistance with a brisk 42 in 22 balls before becoming Mthiwakhaya Nabe's first of four wickets during his spell.

Nabe went on to pick up the wickets of Josh Jordaan (17), Keagan Lion-Catchet (4) and Lethabo Phahlamohlaka (1) to take his side to the cusp of victory.

Despite a valiant 35 from 23 balls from Roelof van der Merwe, Asakhe Tsaka picked up the last two wicket to move Province above the Titans into fift position on the table.
