Chloe Tryon - We must not overthink India clash

Proteas Women all-rounder Chloe Tryon says they must have a calm approach to the T20 World Cup match against India tomorrow, and not overthink the occasion.

South Africa cannot afford to lose the match at Old Trafford, having already suffered defeat in their opening match against Australia exactly a week ago.

Tryon says although they beat India at home a few weeks ago, they’re expecting their opponents to bring on a different type of intensity at the tournament.

"We can't overthink it too much, and we can take the positives we had against them at home with that 4-1 series win against them. There's a lot more pressure in the World Cup so we need to make sure we play our best cricket because our destiny is in our hands."

The left-arm spinner pointed out what she thought worked best for them in that series against India at home, which they won 4-1. She also believes they stand a better chance of winning if they go on the offensive especially with the bat.

"We started very well in the power play during that series back home, and then we looked after the middle and death overs with good bowling. The intent in our batting was also really good so we'll just be looking to replicate that."

That first match against the Aussies was at the same venue last Saturday, and Tryon says the wicket has changed in the last seven days and they may need to do some adjusting.
