Arshdeep Singh spins India to victory over Australia in second T20I

India levelled the three-match T20I series with a comfortable five-wicket win over Australia in Hobart on Sunday.

The visitors ended their somewhat incredible run of lost tosses with a correct call and captain SuryakumarYadav put Australia into bat.

Starting out with his twaeker Arshdeep Singh, Yadav's decision was soon vindicated. Singh dismissed the dangerous Travis Head with the fourth ball of the match, then Josh Inglis was caught at fine leg in the third over and Singh had two scalps.

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh and Tim David put the innings back together. But spinner Varun Chakravarthy set them back with two wickets in two balls, getting rid of Marsh and then Mitchell Owen for a golden duck.

Undeterred, Tim David continued his swashbuckling ways to bludgeon 74 off just 38 balls with five sixes before finally holing out at long off. Marcus Stoinis continued where David left off and combined with Matthew Short to put on 64 (39) to get Australia to 186/6. Eventual man of the match Singh would end with a tidy 3/35.

In the chase, there were contributions all down the order from India. Openers Shubnam Gill and Abishek Sharma and then Yadav took the sting out of the chase. The trio took India to 76 in the seventh over before the captain departed for 24 off 11.

Being well ahead of the rate and with seven wickets in hand, the visitors controlled proceedings to set up Washington Sundar, who sprinted to the finish line with his quickfire 49 not out from just 23.
