The 29-year-old striker has left Juarez Femenil for their rivals CF Monterrey after one season – a move confirmed as she prepares to head over to the FIFA Women’s World Cup with the national team next month.

Seoposenwe, usually outspoken and frank, has spelled out why she took this route.

"First and foremost, probably, yeah, remuneration [is the reason for the transfer]. I think Mexico is probably one of the highest-paying leagues in the world," Seoposenwe said.

"People want you to go to Europe, they want you to play in USA, they want you to play in all these places, but I'm going to choose what is best for me and for my future.

"At the end of the day, it's always, you know, how they perceive soccer players in terms of, 'Oh, you've played soccer for how long, [yet] you have nothing to your name,' and all these things."

SABC Sport recently interviewed ex-Banyana player Veronica Phewa, who confirmed getting paid R50 per day at some point during her international career – this is precisely what Seoposenwe is aiming to avoid.

"I want to make sure that, at the end of my career, I am in a great financial state by doing what's best for me and my family, and I don't really care about people's opinions in terms of, 'Oh, why don't you go back to Europe?'

"I think in a lot of European leagues, African players are definitely a little... monetised a little less. But I won't comment [further] on all of that, I think that gets a little political and out of the context of what we're talking about," she stated, before adding that Europe was not even a consideration for her.

"My decision [was that] I wanted to stay in Mexico, I wanted to be at the best club in Mexico, and I think I made that decision early in the year – I had already decided and told my agent that I wanted to stay in Mexico.

"I know a lot of people want me to go back to Europe, but I don't think I am [ever going back]. I think from here on out, I'll be in Mexico until I retire," concluded the 29-year-old.
