Zuma to request Chiefs clearance

In the latest regarding Kaizer Chiefs attacker Dumisani Zuma, who is currently suspended for misconduct, SABC Sport has learnt through sources at the club that the players™ camp has requested a clearance.

Chiefs banned the player from all football activities earlier this month and immediately pulled him out the match day squad on the eve of their DStv Premiership fixture at home against Marumo Gallants stating he™d violated a few rules.

At the time, Zuma™s agent, Basia Michaels, who is also his legal representative, told SABC Sport that the announcement via Amakhosi™s social media accounts had come as a surprise to both her and the player.

There hasn™t been an update from Chiefs since 2 May, but information gathered indicates that another internal disciplinary hearing has been conducted, although the outcome is yet to be made public up to now.

Zuma was previously suspended by the Glamour Boys in November last year for allegedly drinking under the influence of alcohol and the recommendations from the disciplinary process then was that he attend rehabilitation.

Following 10 months on the sidelines, the player returned in April, making a 25-minute cameo in an away league match to Stellenbosch FC followed by two successive substitute appearances against Golden Arrows and Cape Town City, a game in which he scored.

It™s understood the players™ camp opened a conversation regarding a clearance not long after Chiefs confirmed his suspension, which had clearly upset his agent.

Contacted for further comment, Michaels had this to say.

œThis is a difficult question to answer because you know how Chiefs are about the media coming out with their camp news before they do. We are still going through the disciplinary process and I ask that you give us time to ventilate it, from my personal experience the outcome won™t be favorable but weirder things have happened in football.

She is still frustrated with how the initial information regarding her client™s suspension was communicated.

œAs soon as there is an outcome you know Chiefs will let the public know, sometimes even before we know¦as the people involved. We have been waiting much longer than usual when it comes to these kinds of happenings to be brutally honest, added Michaels.

SABC Sport also sought an official update from Chiefs, but communications manager Vina Maphosa said he was yet to receive one.

Zuma remains contracted to Amakhosi until June 2023.
