Zuko Mdunyelwa eyes final as Sundowns guard slim lead at Loftus

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Zuko Mdunyelwa says the team remains fully aware that the job is only half done ahead of their CAF Champions League semifinal second leg against Espérance on Saturday.

The Brazilians take a narrow 1-0 lead into the clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, with just 90 minutes separating them from a second successive final.

Mdunyelwa emphasised the significance of the encounter, describing it as a massive occasion both personally and for the team.

"The talk amongst the players is to understand that the assignment is not done as yet. The away game was just the first half and the second half is coming up on Saturday. It actually comes from the coach that in such games when it's high pressure games us as players we should just go inside and enjoy ourselves,” Mdunyelwa said.

“So, it takes away the pressure but games like this always have pressure on their own because as a player you want to achieve something for the club and for yourself."

According to Mdunyelwa, another edge Sundowns have over Esperance is the fact that coach Miguel Cardoso was in the opposite dugout two seasons ago.

"It's very crucial for us because he gave us a little bit of insight and things that you cannot see when you watch the game about the players' details. So, for me it all boils down to the details that he gives us to the games,” he added.

“We are expecting them to come out guns blazing because it's do or die for them and for us but considering the fact that we will be playing a home game, we will take advantage of that."
