The 27-year-old son of France legend Zinedine Zidane had previously represented France's youth teams from u16 to u20 but had yet to receive a call-up to the senior side.
He potentially could represent Algeria at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Desert Foxes currently needing one victory to secure qualification to the global showpiece.
Zidane qualified to play for the North African side due to his grandparents who were from the Kabylie region of the country.
The goalkeeper will be hoping to receive his first call up to the Algerian squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Somalia and Uganda next month.
He had featured in the four opening matches for Granada in the Segunda Division this season, conceding 10 goals before being dropped for the last league defeat against Real Jaen on Thursday.
The Spanish side lie bottom of the Spanish second division with one point after five matches.
