The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) have lodged a complaint to CAF over the officiating in their Women's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final defeat to South Africa on Monday night.
The Copper Queens were beaten 0-1 by Banyana Banyana, thanks to Linda Motlhalo's late penalty, awarded by Ethiopian referee Lidya Tafesse Abebe following Video Assistant Referee analysis.
Zambia, however, have issued a letter to the Confederation of African Football, highlighting "six key incidences including the late minute penalty awarded to South Africa" while also calling for the annulment of the penalty and subsequent replay of the match.
We therefore wish to contest against the decision of the referee to award such a penalty resulting in a goal which decided against our team progressing to the finals as we call for a serious review of the game, read part of the FAZ appeal.
We call for the penalty to be cancelled, that a replay be ordered and that the referee be barred from handling any games.
CAF have yet to respond to the appeal.
Hosts Morocco beat Nigeria in the other semi-final and will feature in the final at Prince Moulay Stadium in Rabat on Saturday evening at 22:00.
