Woodman loved "unbelievable" Liverpool experience in recent Merseyside derby

The 29-year-old goalkeeper had made just one appearance all season before being called into action in the second half, following an injury to Giorgi Mamardashvili. Despite the pressure, Woodman held firm as Virgil van Dijk headed home a dramatic winner deep into stoppage time.

"It was a moment that I was waiting for and probably ready for as well," Woodman said after the match. "I've trained hard all season. I didn't think it would come, but to do it in a derby and win like we did was unbelievable."

Mohamed Salah had earlier given Liverpool the lead before Everton responded through Beto, whose effort led to the collision that forced Mamardashvili off.

Woodman admitted the occasion brought nerves but trusted the players in front of him. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous," he said. "But when I saw our back four, I thought I'd be alright. They looked after me."

The goalkeeper also paid tribute to injured team-mates, including first-choice stopper Alisson Becker. "If Ali plays, he's the best goalkeeper in the world," Woodman added. "I hope he's back soon, and I hope Giorgi recovers well."

Head coach Arne Slot offered a positive update on Mamardashvili's condition after the match, suggesting the injury may not keep him out for long.

For Woodman, the focus remains clear. "I'll just keep doing my role and be ready," he said. "Whether it's 10 minutes or 20 minutes, I'll be prepared."

Liverpool now turn their attention to a crucial run of fixtures, starting with Crystal Palace at Anfield, followed by a trip to Manchester United and a home clash against Chelsea - matches that could shape their Premier League campaign.
