William Saliba: Quadruple-chasing Arsenal must 'start winning trophies now'

William Saliba believes Arsenal have the quality and mentality required to achieve a historic quadruple this season as they head into 2026 competing strongly on all fronts.

The Gunners remain alive in four competitions, a position that has fuelled growing confidence within Mikel Arteta's squad.

Arsenal's progress was underlined on Tuesday evening when they knocked Crystal Palace out of the Carabao Cup following a dramatic penalty shoot-out. That victory secured a place in the semi-finals, where they will face Chelsea, a tie Saliba and his team-mates are already relishing.

The French defender has spoken positively about the challenge ahead, viewing it as another opportunity to demonstrate Arsenal's credentials against elite opposition.

Domestic form has further strengthened belief at the Emirates. Arsenal were top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day, significantly boosting their hopes of ending a long wait for league glory.

The club are chasing their first Premier League title since 2004, with Manchester City remaining close challengers in an increasingly competitive title race.

"We have been close in the Premier League in the past three seasons, and last season we were in the semi-finals of the Champions League and the Carabao Cup, so we know that we can win every competition," said Saliba.

"But we have to show that on the pitch, and we have to start winning trophies now.

"We are in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup so there are three games left for us, and we have to do the job in January against Chelsea.

"It will be a big game, a big derby, so we have to keep going. We know that we are close and we have to learn the lessons from last season.

"At the end of your career we count our trophies, and the Carabao Cup is one of them - and now we are in the semi-final and of course we want to win this competition, like every competition that we play."

Saliba has played a central role in Arsenal's impressive campaign. A regular starter and mainstay in defence, he has been instrumental in providing consistency and resilience at the back.
