Victor Boniface fulfilling Victor Osimhen's prophecy with Bundesliga triumph

Osimhen's triumph with Napoli in Serie A last season fuelled Boniface's belief, and Leverkusen clinched their first-ever Bundesliga title after a resounding 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen.

Under the guidance of Luciano Spalletti, Osimhen's success in 2022/23 inspired celebrations globally, particularly in Nigeria, where national pride soared. 

For Leverkusen, their long-awaited Bundesliga triumph marks a historic moment for the BayArena club, after finishing as runners-up five times in the past, notably faltering in the 2001/02 season.

Reflecting on the journey, Boniface expressed pride and gratitude for achieving their season's goal. "From the start, we knew what we wanted and remained determined. Even leading 3-0, we fought for more goals. It's a proud and blessed feeling," Boniface shared with Soccernet.ng managing editor, Lolade Adewuyi.

Despite their Bundesliga victory, Leverkusen's ambition extends beyond domestic success. With eyes set on the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals and the DFB-Pokal final, Boniface emphasizes the team's relentless pursuit of a treble. 

"It doesn't stop here. We have two more important trophies in sight. If we can secure the perfect three, the celebrations will be even grander," he affirmed.

Boniface's revelation of Osimhen's prophetic words adds an intriguing dimension to Leverkusen's triumph. 

"Shout out to Osimhen because I remember when Napoli won the league. He told me next year will be your turn, and it's happening now. Senior man respect," Boniface concluded, acknowledging the synchronicity of their victories.
