UEFA Champions League Last 16 draw: Newcastle host Barcelona, Man City visit Real Madrid

The UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw produced heavyweight clashes and high-stakes drama, with six Premier League clubs handed demanding tests on the road to Budapest.

One of the standout ties sees Newcastle United host Barcelona at St James' Park in the first leg. It is a glamour fixture and a major moment for Eddie Howe's side, who will look to use home advantage to unsettle the Spanish giants before the return leg. Newcastle's intensity on Tyneside has been a key weapon in Europe, and they will need it against a Barcelona side rich in continental pedigree.

Another blockbuster encounter sends Manchester City to the Santiago Bernabeu to face Real Madrid. It is a rivalry that has defined recent Champions League campaigns, with both clubs regularly meeting in the latter stages. City's tactical control under Pep Guardiola will be tested again in Madrid, where the Spanish champions traditionally thrive on European nights.

Elsewhere, Chelsea travel to face holders Paris Saint-Germain, while Liverpool head to Turkey to take on Galatasaray in what promises to be a fierce atmosphere in Istanbul.

Arsenal must overcome Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, and Tottenham Hotspur travel to the Spanish capital to face Atletico Madrid.

The remaining ties see Atalanta play Bayern Munich, and Bodo/Glimt meet Sporting CP.

The first legs will be played on 10-11 March, with the return fixtures scheduled for 17-18 March. Seeded teams will host the second legs, a potential advantage in what are expected to be finely balanced contests.

The quarter-final bracket is already mapped out. The winner of PSG versus Chelsea will meet either Galatasaray or Liverpool. Real Madrid or Manchester City will face Atalanta or Bayern Munich. Newcastle or Barcelona will take on Atletico Madrid or Tottenham, while Bodo/Glimt or Sporting will meet Bayer Leverkusen or Arsenal.
