Tottenham accused of editing fans' meeting minutes amid transparency row

Accusations of a breakdown in transparency have surfaced at Tottenham Hotspur after supporters alleged that key concerns were omitted from the published minutes of a recent meeting between club officials and fan representatives.

The controversy centres on discussions held on February 3 between senior Spurs figures, including chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, and the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust. The meeting took place shortly before the dismissal of head coach Thomas Frank, and was intended to address growing anxieties among supporters regarding the club's direction.

According to the Trust, several issues raised during the discussions were excluded from the final version of the minutes released by the club, despite requests for their inclusion. Among the alleged omissions was a statement acknowledging that the club had "welcomed the input" of supporters during the meeting.

The Trust also claims that concerns surrounding Spurs' precarious position in the Premier League were removed. Supporters reportedly expressed fears about the threat of relegation and voiced the view that optimism generated by last season's triumph in the UEFA Europa League had since dissipated.

Additional issues supporters say were excluded include concerns over the limited progression of youth players into the senior squad, the club's long-term profitability, and clarity around specific performance targets linked to Spurs' broader strategic objectives.

In a statement, the Supporters' Trust stressed the importance of full disclosure in maintaining accountability and representing the interests of the fanbase. The group argued that publishing a complete record of discussions helps supporters understand how their views are being communicated to the club hierarchy.

Tottenham declined to publicly respond to the allegations. However, individuals close to the club suggested the minutes were intended to provide an accurate and factual summary of the meeting rather than deliberately exclude particular viewpoints.

The dispute comes during a difficult period on the pitch. Spurs currently sit 16th in the league standings with 12 matches remaining, holding a five-point cushion above the relegation zone. In an effort to stabilise results for the remainder of the campaign, the club has appointed Croatian coach Igor Tudor on a short-term basis until the end of the season.
