Sundowns Ladies to leave everything on the pitch in CAF Champions League qualifiers

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies coach Godfrey Sapula says the team is ready to leave everything on the pitch when they face Nsingizini Hotspurs FC in their opening CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers clash.

Banyana Ba’Style arrived in Botswana on Tuesday and have been preparing for their campaign as they look to secure a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after missing out on the previous edition.

Sapula says the team is aware that women’s football on the continent has evolved and they will not take any opponent lightly.

"It's not easy considering the rise in competition within the women's game. You cannot win based off your history or track record, you have to put in the hard work and the effort. You would've seen how Malawi were able to surprise everyone at the recent WAFCON, and we have also been seeded with a club from Malawi in the qualifiers to make things interesting."

Sapula says they have had to integrate the players who returned from representing South Africa at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

"The preparations have gone very well, obviously the first challenge is to integrate two groups of players into one collective unit."

Sundowns captain Lebogang Ramalepe says her role is to motivate the team and ensure every player is mentally prepared for the competitiveness that comes with participating in the championship.
