Stellies midfielder in advanced talks to join Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates have moved swiftly to identify a replacement for midfielder Miguel Timm by tabling a three-year deal to Sihle Nduli, with the agreement subject to minor details, SABC Sport can reveal.

The public broadcaster confirmed Timm’s imminent exit earlier this month after the club did not trigger the option on his contract.

Nduli on the other had was offered an extension by Stellenbosch FC recently but turned it down as he eyed a challenge elsewhere.

The anchorman was given the captain’s armband in what was his final bow for the side coached by Steve Barker – bidding farewell to his teammates and fans in the goalless draw against Cape Town City on Saturday.

Barker confirmed during a press conference that Nduli would be leaving and thanked the player for his service.

It’s understood Nduli very nearly joined Pirates in January, but Stellies wanted a staggering amount for a player that was going to be a free agent at the end of the season and the Soweto giants opted to wait.

The Buccaneers, surprisingly, did not make any signings four months ago despite competition in both the domestic league and the CAF Champions League under coach Jose Riveiro, who has since also left.

However, with the hunt for his successor ongoing it’s believed Pirates will use the upcoming transfer window to beef up the team for the incoming coach.

Nduli is a player now set to join The Buccaneers pending the finer details, however, a three-year offer has been put on the table and awaiting signatures.
