Stellies were knocked out of the continental competition after finishing bottom of Group C with only five points.
Hunt says the long flights were taking its toll on the players.
"What we've done the last three weeks is crazy, you can't be doing that. You fly 26, 28 hours, sleeping on airport floors, we couldn't have won those games, we didn't have a chance,” Hunt said.
“I understand I've done it for a long time, travelling but sometimes it takes a lot out of the players and then coming back. Which is also always a problem and then we got back on Thursday. It was really impossible playing in CAF."
Hunt joined the Cape Winelands side at the end of 2025 after former coach, Steve Barker left for Simba SC in the Tanzanian Premier League.
He has rotated a lot of players since taking over as well as making a couple of signings.
The 61-year-old adds on what he has observed since taking the job at Stellies.
"Basically what I've done in the CAF is play everybody and look at everybody and now I've got a nice picture of what we need and what we don't need. Who we need and how we need to set the field up because the way I wanna do it, I can't do it,” he added.
“So, I have to do what I need, I can't say I wanna play 4-4-2 when I can't because we've got certain areas that we need to work on. We are in a dog fight in the league."
