The University of Pretoria striker featured in both legs of the second-round tie as South Africa recorded a dominant 7-0 aggregate victory over Madagascar in Bloemfontein.
Qashani says she has settled well into the national team setup, praising the warm reception from her teammates and the collective effort that helped Banyana Banyana progress to the next round.
“I feel great, it has been a wonderful experience. I am so happy that the team managed to win, it was teamwork the whole time. No one was greater than anyone, we all played our role to help the team qualify for the next round. My debut was an amazing experience and I am happy with the team that welcomed me. I am glad that I was impactful and won the two games,” said Qashani.
The forward also expressed her gratitude to head coach Desiree Ellis for the guidance and support she has received, particularly in adapting to the demands of international football.
“Coach Desiree Ellis has been amazing. She has been guiding me throughout on handling high performance, as well as the difference between playing for the national team and playing at club level. She allows me to ask questions, gives me direction and allows me to express myself the best way I can. I couldn’t score today after attempting a few times, but she encouraged me to continue trying,” added Qashani.
Having also experienced playing in front of a large crowd in Bloemfontein for the first time, Qashani says the occasion has motivated her to work harder and continue gaining exposure to international football.
