Rulani Mokwena reacts to Al Ahly 4-goal thriller

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena says his players earned the point away from home in the four-goal CAF Champions League thriller against Al Ahly on Saturday night.

The Brazilians broke the deadlock through striker Peter Shalulile, but then went behind with the Egyptian giants scoring twice in the second half.

And then utility player Thapelo Morena came off the bench to level matters.

Mokwena was full of praise.

"I think the crowd enjoyed the four goals with two very good sides on the pitch. Congratulations to my players because this was a very difficult game against a very good side. A team that made us work very hard for the point," he said.

Sundowns remain top of Group B with seven points from three matches following the stalemate in Cairo.

The coach wanted to continue their winning run.

"We wanted to get three points but it's not easy against Al Ahly, you've got to give a lot of respect. So, congratulations to the players, I'm very proud of their efforts," he added.

Mokwena singled out Morena for his contribution in not only getting the equaliser, but his overall performance.

"Two things that I think I have to say which are important, firstly congratulations to Thapelo Morena, it was difficult to have him on the bench because he has been very good for us. Then he came in with an important goal to make it 2-2. Incredible attitude, incredible human being, top footballer. Then the second thing is congratulations to the technical staff," he concluded.
