Rosenior hails midfield leader Moises Caicedo after new Chelsea deal

The club confirmed earlier this month that Caicedo had extended his stay at Stamford Bridge, securing his future in a deal that places him among the squad's top earners. The 24-year-old, who joined from Brighton in 2023, has since made 140 appearances, contributing eight goals and 11 assists from midfield.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea's meeting with Brighton tonight, Rosenior made clear just how highly he rates the Ecuador international.

"He leads by example, and we're delighted he's committed his long-term future to the club," the Chelsea boss said.

"He's somebody who shows bravery in the way he takes the ball, the way he presses, tackles, runs and fights for the team. Those are the values that bring success."

Caicedo's importance to the side has been evident since his arrival. Last season, under former head coach Enzo Maresca, he was the only player to start every Premier League match, underlining both his consistency and durability in a demanding campaign.

His renewal follows that of captain Reece James, with Chelsea continuing to tie down key players on long-term deals as part of their strategy to build a stable, competitive squad for the future.

There could be further positive news on that front, with Levi Colwill reportedly close to agreeing a new contract as talks with the club progress.

For Rosenior, Caicedo's commitment is another sign that Chelsea are building a core group capable of challenging for major honours in the years ahead.
