Roberto De Zerbi: Tottenham need 'important' attacking signings

Spurs have already focused heavily on rebuilding their defence and midfield. Jan Paul van Hecke has arrived from Brighton as the expected successor to Cristian Romero, while Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali completed high-profile moves worth a combined 185 million pounds. Tottenham have also broken their transfer record twice during the current window.

Experienced trio Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka joined on free transfers following the expiry of their contracts, while substantial fees received for Luka Vuskovic and Will Lankshear have helped finance the club's spending.

Further departures are anticipated, with Guglielmo Vicario, Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur all omitted from De Zerbi's touring squad, fuelling speculation they could be on their way out.

Despite expressing satisfaction with the business completed so far, De Zerbi believes Spurs still lack sufficient quality in the final third, particularly with Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski continuing their recoveries from long-term injuries. The Italian has made it clear he wants "important" additions.

"Yes, the target now is to complete the attacking positions. We want the first level, because we have already important players," said De Zerbi.

"But to start a new project we need another couple of important players."

Tottenham have been linked with Eli Junior Kroupi, Antonio Nusa, Cody Gakpo, Rafael Leao and Savinho, although negotiations have yet to produce a breakthrough.
