Richards Bay seal one transfer, another in talks

Despite the head coach position still currently vacant, this hasn’t stopped Richards Bay FC from recruiting new players.

SABC Sport can confirm the Natal Rich Boys, who announced the sacking of Vasili Manousakis as well as his two assistants in Pitso Dladla and Ronnie Gabriel last week, have signed midfielder Boikanyo Komane.

Now 30 years old, the once highly rated player spent the previous season at Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit All Stars FC and it’s his form there that has earned him a move back to the elite league.

At the peak of his career in the topflight, Komane was playing for Chippa United and was linked with a possible transfer to Kaizer Chiefs, who were searching for a successor to anchorman Willard Katsande at the time.

But the move never materialised, and instead, Komane joined Golden Arrows where injuries stalled his promising career.

However, the public broadcaster has now learnt that Richards Bay have thrown the holding midfielder a lifeline as he has put pen to paper on a new contract and will be part of their squad next season.

Komane joins the duo of winger Thato Mohlamme and striker Justice Figareido on the list of new recruits at Richards Bay.

Another player who could be joining them is forward Sinethemba Mngomezulu, but the paper work for the transfer from Stellenbosch FC is understood to not be overline yet with finer details being ironed out.

Mngomezulu signed for Stellies a year ago and featured in 24 games in all competitions, scoring four goals for coach Steve Barker’s side.

The two sides have agreed a deal in principle, but must still settle on the transfer fee and the player’s personal terms.
