Richards Bay part ways with Kaitano Tembo

Richards Bay on Monday announced the sacking of head coach Kaitano Tembo following their poor first half of the 2023/24 season.

The Zimbabwean mentor replaced Vasili Manousakis at the Natal Rich Boys this season but has struggled for results in the 15 matches played so far.

Richards Bay are currently in 15th place on the DStv Premiership standings with just two wins, four draws and nine losses, tallying just 10 points at the halfway mark.

They last narrowly lost 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday, which was the final straw for the club to pull the trigger.

A club statement read: "Richards Bay Football Club would like to announce the release of the head coach Mr. Kaitano Tembo with immediate effect.

"The club would like to thank the coach for his contribution during this season. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

Former Golden Arrows co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, who left his role as Chippa United Technical Director after less than two months to join the Natal side in November, has been named interim head coach.

"Senior coach Mr. Vusi Vilakazi will take over the first team until further notice," continued the statement.

Richards Bay next play SuperSport United at the King Zwelithini Stadium on 30 December.
