Report: Real Madrid ready to spend big money on Premier League midfielder

Real Madrid are weighing up a significant midfield investment ahead of the next transfer window, with multiple Premier League-based options under consideration.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish giants are prepared to commit "tens of millions" to secure a top-tier midfielder, with their shortlist reflecting both elite pedigree and long-term potential.

At the forefront of their plans is Rodri of Manchester City. The Spain international, whose contract runs until 2027, is understood to be open to a return to his home country.

A previous association with Atletico Madrid is not viewed as a major stumbling block, though any deal would likely command a fee in the region of 100 million euros.

An alternative under consideration is Enzo Fernandez, currently at Chelsea. The midfielder is reportedly open to a move, particularly given an unstable environment at his current club.

However, internal reservations exist in Madrid regarding his strong personality, as well as past on-field tensions involving Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe. Any transfer would exceed 100 million euros and is considered complex.

A more developmental option is Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace. While the youngster offers high upside and is eager to join a Champions League-calibre side, concerns remain over his limited exposure to elite, high-pressure competitions.
