Premier League opens vote for 2025 Hall of Fame inductees

The Premier League has confirmed the 15 players shortlisted for induction into the 2025 Hall of Fame, with fans now able to vote for their preferred candidates.

The Hall of Fame vote is open to all Premier League supporters, presenting a unique chance to directly influence which legends are formally recognised.

The ballot opened on Monday, 8 September and will run until Monday, 15 September, with two players set to join the Hall of Fame later this year.

The announcement has sparked significant interest and debate among football fans and punters at the best leading betting sites UK.

The Hall of Fame recognises individuals who have made a lasting contribution to the Premier League since its launch in 1992. This year’s 15-man shortlist includes a wide range of former stars, from leading goal scorers to decorated defenders and goalkeepers.

The full list of nominees are:

Sol Campbell
Michael Carrick
Jermain Defoe
Patrice Evra
Cesc Fàbregas
Les Ferdinand
Robbie Fowler
Eden Hazard
Gary Neville
Michael Owen
Teddy Sheringham
David Silva
Yaya Touré
Edwin van der Sar
Nemanja Vidic

Collectively, these players made more than 5,000 Premier League appearances, scored over 1,000 goals, and won 44 league titles during their careers.

Following the announcement of the 15-man shortlist, Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “The Hall of Fame recognises and celebrates individuals who have made a significant contribution to the history of the competition. Each player on the shortlist has left their mark on the Premier League through their skill, success, and influence on matches and teammates.”

Masters added that the vote gives supporters an opportunity to “play a direct role in deciding who deserves to be honoured” in the Class of 2025.

Fans can cast their votes via the official Premier League website and app. Once the public vote closes, the results will be combined with input from the existing Hall of Fame members. That group already includes names such as Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Didier Drogba, Sergio Agüero, Wayne Rooney, and former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The two successful candidates will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, 4 November. They will be awarded the bespoke Hall of Fame medallion and have their achievements formally recognised at the event.

The Premier League Hall of Fame was established in 2021. As of September 2025, 24 players and two managers have been inducted. The next induction ceremony is scheduled for 4 November 2025.

Since its inception, the Hall of Fame has steadily grown, recognising celebrated players and, more recently, influential managers who have shaped the Premier League.

In 2023, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger were inducted as the first managers. They joined players Tony Adams, Petr ÄŒech, and Rio Ferdinand, who were inducted through a fan vote.

In 2024, Ashley Cole was inducted. The remaining two inductees were determined by a fan vote, with Andrew Cole and John Terry joining the Hall of Fame.

“This is a chance to celebrate the exceptional players who have helped shape the Premier League. We look forward to welcoming two more legends into the Hall of Fame later this year,” Masters added.
