Pirates march on to sixth win in a row with hard-fought Swallows victory

Orlando Pirates made it six wins in a row in the league with a 2-1 victory over Swallows FC at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

Pirates took the lead with just two minutes gone through Terrence Dzvukamanja, who headed in at the near post from Thabiso Monyane's cross from a corner.

The Buccaneers were not sitting back after taking the lead as they continued to come at the hosts. Thabang Monare won a free-kick some 30 yards out and Monnapule Saleng had a speculative effort which was easily dealt with by Galaxy goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi.

The Sea Robbers were enjoying over 60 percent of the possession but the Rockets almost equalised in the 27th minute when Kamogelo Sebelebele's header went narrowly wide of the right post from Yaimil Medina's excellent delivery.

The Bucs continued to dominate proceedings and had a chance in the 34th minute. Saleng did excellently to bring a lofted ball over the defence down and the ball found its way to Kabelo Dlamini but his left footed volley from outside the box was comfortably saved.

Soon after, TS Galaxy struck back through their first corner of the game. It was the skipper Given Msimango, who got his head to it at the front post and got the home side back on level terms.

Having had just two shots on target in the first half, the Orlando outfit were looking to show some precision in the second half and it took until the hour mark when the ball was headed back into the box by Nkosinathi Sibisi for Hotto, who was in the right place, to finish and restore the Soweto giants' lead.

Galaxy began to see more of the ball as the game drew to its conclusion with Pirates content to shut up shop as the game drew to a conclusion. Pirates had the best opportunity of the second half in stoppage time when Saleng got one-on-one with the keeper, but Buthelezi managed to close the angle and make a vital save.
