Orlando Pirates storm to emphatic win against Royal AM

Orlando Pirates showcased their prowess with a commanding 4-0 victory against Royal AM in the DStv Premiership clash held on Sunday afternoon at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

The match saw stellar performances from Patrick Maswanganyi, Thalente Mbatha, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Kabelo, all of whom found the back of the net for the Gauteng-based team.

The Buccaneers made significant changes from their previous lineup, with players like Melusi Buthelezi, Innocent Maela, Thalente Mbatha, and Monnapule Saleng taking to the field, while John Maduka's Royal AM maintained the same starting eleven as their previous outing.

The game witnessed moments of excitement, with Sedwyn George missing a golden opportunity to score for Royal AM early on. However, Pirates capitalized on their chances, showcasing a blend of intricate passing and clinical finishing.

Pirates faced an early setback when Thabiso Lebitso suffered an injury and had to be replaced by Thabiso Monyane.

Despite this, they maintained their attacking momentum, ultimately securing a lead through Patrick Maswanganyi's penalty in the 27th minute.

Royal AM attempted to stage a comeback, with George hitting the crossbar from a freekick, but it was Pirates who dominated proceedings in the second half.

Thalente Mbatha, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Kabelo further extended their lead, showcasing their offensive prowess and securing a comprehensive victory.

With this win, Jose Riveiro's side climbs the league standings, amassing 43 points and proving their mettle as serious contenders in the DStv Premiership.
