Miguel Timm set to leave Orlando Pirates

SABC Sport can reveal that midfielder Miguel Timm will be a free agent at the end of the season with his Orlando Pirates exit imminent.

Timm gradually had his game time significantly reduced under coach Jose Riveiro, who took charge of his final match at the club on Tuesday night ahead of a rumoured move to Al Ahly.

The public broadcaster has been informed Pirates will not be triggering the option to extend the player’s contract beyond June 30 and as such rendering him available to possible suitors in the coming weeks.

Pirates were in a similar position with Timm around this time last season, but announced the popular figure in the dressing would be staying on for at least one more year after putting pen to paper.

Timm had finished the campaign with an impressive 30 games under his belt, however his situation has paled in comparison over the last couple of months with his inactivity meaning he only made two appearances.

Timm was also behind the pecking order in central midfield with Makhehleni Makhaula and Thalente Mbatha the preferred pairing.

It remains to be seen whether Timm will be given a send-off by featuring in any of the four league matches that remain under coach Mandla Ncikazi and Rayaan Jacobs, the head performance analyst.

The 33-year-old was linked with interest from AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United prior to the January transfer window, but no deal materialised with suggestions Timm was more than happy to fight for his place.

He managed more than 60 games at Pirates and was part of the journey in Riveiro winning five trophies in three years.
