Man Utd's Rasmus Hojlund wants to kickstart career following Napoli loan

Rasmus Hojlund has set his sights on reigniting his career in Serie A after completing a season-long loan move to Napoli from Manchester United.

The deal includes an obligation for Napoli to make the transfer permanent if they qualify for the Champions League, underlining the club's belief in the Danish striker.

Hojlund, 22, is no stranger to Italian football, having impressed at Atalanta during the 2022-23 campaign, where he scored nine goals and provided two assists in 32 league appearances. His performances there earned him a high-profile move to Old Trafford, but his time in England has been mixed.

After a promising debut campaign with United in which he scored 10 Premier League goals, his form dipped last season as he managed only four in 32 appearances. United's struggles in front of goal added further pressure, and Erik ten Hag often rotated his forward line in search of consistency.

Now back in Italy, Hojlund said he is determined to prove his worth. "I come with a lot to prove, I want to show myself in the best team in Italy, and Napoli are going to be very, very good," he explained. "It's different now, obviously, as I come with more experience and I'm a better football player."

Napoli coach Antonio Conte, who returned to Serie A management this summer, has already spoken about the importance of strengthening the squad's attack following the departure of Victor Osimhen. The club see Hojlund as a key figure in that rebuilding process.

Hojlund added: "I always work hard, I want to give everything for the team, to score goals, create, and fight for everything. The tifosi are incredible here, I know from my time with Atalanta how much passion they have for football."

Napoli, who won the Scudetto in 2023, are looking to bounce back after a turbulent season that saw them miss out on Champions League football. With Conte at the helm and Hojlund eager to rediscover his best form, both player and club will hope this move sparks a successful new chapter.
