Martinez has been out since February after surgery following the injury sustained against Crystal Palace.
He has recently been seen training on the grass, and Amorim has spoken about how important Martinez's return is, both for his performances and for his presence in the group.
"It's really important," Amorim said when asked about Martinez's comeback. "When you have that injury you recover a lot of times very fast and then there is the boring part where it looks like you don't go to the next step."
While Martinez is still expected to miss the match against Chelsea at Old Trafford today, Amorim has confirmed two key forwards are available again: Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha. Both were injured in the Burnley game and missed last weekend's Manchester derby.
"Dalot is out, Mase and Cunha are in the squad. Licha is still out, that is it," Amorim told reporters.
He added, "I'm really happy with Mason and Cunha returning."
United have had a rough start to the Premier League season, earning only four points from their first four matches and sitting 14th in the table.
The visit of Chelsea offers a chance to respond after the heavy 3-0 loss in the derby at Manchester City.
Amorim also defended his tactical approach under pressure. He insisted he will not change the system despite criticism after United's sluggish performances.
