Man City ace Erling Haaland fit for Burnley clash as Pep Guardiola offers injury update

Manchester City have received a timely boost ahead of their Premier League fixture against Burnley on Saturday, with manager Pep Guardiola confirming that star striker Erling Haaland is "ready" to return.

The striker missed City's midweek Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield due to back discomfort sustained during the 1-1 draw with Arsenal, but is now fit for selection.

When asked whether Haaland was in contention, Guardiola replied simply: "He's ready."

Haaland has already netted seven goals in six appearances this season and scored five in a single game for Norway earlier this month. His return comes as City aim to continue their strong start.

Guardiola also revealed midfielder Mateo Kovacic could be involved after a long absence following Achilles surgery, although it is unlikely.

"He's not fully ready but step-by-step," Guardiola said.

City are still missing several other players through injury including Omar Marmoush, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Abdukodir Khusanov, all of whom will not feature this weekend..

With Haaland returning and Kovacic potentially available, the Mancunians are in a stronger position as they welcome Scott Parker's Burnley to the Etihad this weekend.
