The 24-year-old Belgian joined the Bundesliga side from RC Genk in the summer of 2024 for a reported 10-million-euro fee.
Since arriving in Germany, Vandevoordt has had to remain patient in his pursuit of regular minutes, with his opportunities restricted by the presence of experienced stopper Peter Gulacsi at the top of the pecking order.
That limited playing time inevitably fuelled rumours about a potential departure, particularly with the transfer window approaching.
However, any uncertainty over his long-term future was effectively ended in February when Vandevoordt committed to a new contract running until 2030.
The extension signalled both the club's faith in his development and the player's own belief in his prospects at the Red Bull Arena.
Vandevoordt has made it clear he is not considering a move away and instead intends to step into the spotlight, with the ultimate aim of becoming Leipzig's undisputed No. 1.
"I'm not thinking about that. From the summer, I want to be Leipzig's number one and I'm looking forward to that time," Vandevoordt told Sport Bild.
"We talked about it. Not because I didn't like Leipzig, but because of my role and perspective.
"It was about the perspective of being number one. I have that, and that's why I want to stay a long time. That Peter (Gulacsi) is also staying is very positive.
"We have a very good relationship - something between friendship and professional colleagues. Together with Leo (Leopold Zingerle), we are a very well-coordinated group of goalkeepers."
