Luis Díaz signals intent to stay at Liverpool amid transfer rumours

Luis Díaz has moved to calm speculation over his future by reaffirming his desire to remain at Liverpool, with discussions over a contract extension potentially on the horizon.

The Colombian international has been consistently linked with a move away from Anfield despite having two years left on his current deal. Reports have suggested interest from several top European clubs, but Diaz appears focused on extending his stay on Merseyside.

Speaking after scoring in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday - his 17th goal of the season - Díaz told Telemundo Deportes that he remains "happy and calm" at the club and is open to renewing his contract.

"Yes, happy," Diaz said when asked about his future. "From the first day I arrived, I've always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team."

"We'll be talking about it, we'll talk about it (the renewal). For me, I would stay however many years it takes - it also depends on the club, everything. These are details that are sorted out separately. Very calm, I'm happy and enjoying the Premier League."

Since arriving from FC Porto in January 2022, Díaz has become a key figure at Liverpool. The 28-year-old has enjoyed his most productive campaign yet, registering 17 goals and eight assists across all competitions. He has featured in 34 of Liverpool's 36 Premier League matches this season, playing a vital role in their title-winning campaign under Arne Slot.

Diaz's versatility - excelling both on the left flank and in a central role - has made him a crucial component in Liverpool's attack, especially as the team transitions into a new era post-Jurgen Klopp.

With Liverpool now looking to secure the futures of core players, Díaz's apparent willingness to commit long-term could be a major boost ahead of a summer that may bring further squad reshaping.
