Lilepo credits AmaKhosi fans as he discusses his growing scoring prowess

Since his arrival in South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) international Glody Lilepo has earned the title of being Kaizer Chiefs’ saviour, scoring crucial goals in important matches.

In January, Lilepo scored with a well-taken strike during the 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants, and it was the goal that was voted as the Betway Premiership goal of the month for January and February.

The former AS Vita and Al Hilal attacker has thanked the people who have consistently voted for him...

"I'm very happy to get this goal of the month award because their are a lot of quality players who have scored beautiful goals, but the people voted for me and I want to say thank you to the fans and to my team. I look forward to scoring the goal of the month again or the goal of the season," said Lilepo.

The goal against Gallants required some art, something Lilepo has been capable of doing, whether he’s finishing with his feet or via a header.

Just last weekend, Lilepo was yet again the saviour for AmaKhosi, scoring from outside the box to give his team their first win in two months in the league, as they beat Durban City 1-0.

He’s hoping to continue with his scoring prowess this weekend, when they take on the relegation-troubled Magesi FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban tomorrow evening.

"I'm a professional player and I'll be very happy to score for my team to win all three points. After the last four games and difficult moments, us as players have stayed strong because football is like that. The one moment things are good and then they are bad."

Now, with just 11 matches left in their campaign, a win for Chiefs tomorrow could see them moving to the third spot on the log, and Lilepo emphasised the importance of pushing hard for a continental spot for next season...
