Liam Rosenior urges Chelsea 'to take the game to' Man City for vital league clash

The English coach has led a turnaround in fortune for the Blues since taking over the reins from Enzo Maresca after leaving French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

Maresca reportedly left Chelsea following a breakdown in relationship with the club's board following a run of one win in his last seven matches in charge.

Rosenior has managed to steer the ship and guide the London giants to the FA Cup quarter-finals and within four pionts of fifth placed Liverpool, who occupy the final UEFA Champions League qualification spot.

He will be facing City for the first time in his tenure after having watched the first round 1-1 draw from the stands, with then interim coach Calum McFarlane leading the side.

"I don't think it's about stopping them [Man City]," said the 41-year-old manager to the club website.

"It's about trying to win the game, and it's about playing your way. Obviously, you can talk about the many strengths that they have, how well coached they are, and their understanding.

"They've been together for a long time, but we're at home and we want to take the game to them in our way and make sure that we express ourselves in the way that I think we're capable of."

Chelsea will also be looking to end a nine-match winless streak against Man City in the Premier League since a 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium during the 2020/21 season.
