Lamine Yamal signs new Barcelona contract until 2031

Barcelona have secured the long-term future of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, with the 17-year-old winger signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

Yamal's extension comes after a historic 2024â-25 campaign, in which he registered 18 goals and 25 assists across 55 appearances, playing a pivotal role in Barca's domestic treble under new manager Hansi Flick.

His previous deal was set to expire in 2026, but the club acted quickly to lock down one of world football's brightest young stars. The contract was signed on Tuesday at the club's offices in the presence of president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco.

"Yamal's renewal is a demonstration of the solidity of Barca's project," the club said in a statement. "His emergence on the world stage has been nothing short of extraordinary."

Since making his debut as a 15-year-old in 2023, Yamal has rewritten the record books. He is the youngest scorer in the history of La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup, and recently became the youngest player ever to reach 100 senior appearances for the club.

Born in Mataro, just north of Barcelona, and a graduate of the famed La Masia academy, Yamal has drawn inevitable comparisons to Lionel Messi - not just for his style of play, but for the sheer impact he's made at such a young age.

On the international stage, Yamal has already earned 19 caps for Spain and was instrumental in their UEFA Euro 2024 triumph, contributing significantly in a 2â-1 final win over England in Berlin.

In total, Yamal has 25 goals in 115 games for Barcelona - a tally that will only grow as the club continues to build around its generational talent.

The contract renewal continues a trend of continuity at Camp Nou, following recent extensions for head coach Hansi Flick and forward Raphinha, as Barcelona look to reassert themselves in both Spain and Europe.
