Konate targets Champions League glory after joining Real Madrid

France international defender Ibrahima Konate has revealed that he wants to win a Champions League title with his new club Real Madrid ahead of 2026/27 season.

The 27-year-old joined Los Blancos on a four-year contract from English Premier League side Liverpool on a free transfer following the expiry of his deal at Anfield.

Konate was officially revealed as a Real Madrid signing on Thursday, where he was presented with the number 16 home shirt before expressing his elation with the move and revealing his targets with the club.

"It means a lot to me [to join Madrid], because the first shirt I ever owned was a Real Madrid shirt, a gift from my older brother," revealed Konate to the club website.

"From that moment on, I always dreamed of playing for this fantastic team, and today Iâ™m so happy to be living that dream.

"I want to be part of Real Madridâ™s history, and I want to win titles, win the Champions League with this team, and be part of its history forever. I promise to give everything for this shirt."

Konate made 183 appearances for Liverpool, scoring seven goals while providing four assists, winning five domestic trophies including one Premier League and FA Cup title.

He joins the La Liga giants alongside new arrivals Yan Diomande, Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries and Carlos Espi.
