Kiernan Dewsbury‑Hall eyes England call-up as Everton prepare to host Burnley

Everton manager David Moyes has said Kiernan Dewsbury‑Hall is closer than many think to forcing his way into the England squad if he keeps producing strong performances for the Blues.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been one of Everton's most influential players this Premier League season, contributing five goals and three assists in 21 appearances. His form helped Everton secure a dramatic 3-2 win at Newcastle United at the weekend, where Moyes praised his control and creativity in the middle of the park.

Speaking ahead of tonight's Premier League match against Burnley, which Everton host at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Moyes said: "I don't think Kiernan's far off the England squad. If they had a B international or something similar, he'd certainly be in the mix."

Moyes acknowledged the competition for attacking midfield spots in the national team is strong, mentioning players such as Eberechi Eze, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden, but stressed Dewsbury-Hall's quality. "He's got energy and skill that really make a difference," Moyes added.

Dewsbury-Hall missed several games earlier in the season with a hamstring problem, which Moyes says disrupted his rhythm after a bright start. "He was probably on the verge of being our top goalscorer before the injury," Moyes said, reflecting on what might have been.

Everton go into tonight's game sitting in the top half of the Premier League table, still within reach of European qualification, while Burnley are battling nearer the bottom.

The Burnley match represents another chance for Dewsbury-Hall to impress on one of English football's biggest stages. "With the right players around him, he'll be even better," Moyes said of his key midfielder.
